The Holy Scriptures- Ever since the beginning, the devil has been on the attack against GOD’S Word. The first mention of the devil was in his subtle deception saying to Eve “Yea, Hath GOD said…”
The devil will cause men to
- Doubt the Word of GOD (Genesis 3:1)
- Corrupt the Word of GOD (2 Corinthians 2:17)
- Misquote the Word of GOD (Luke 4:10, 11)
Why the attack? Here are some of the many Biblical Truths that remind us why the devil is on the attack.
- It is by the Word of GOD that men are saved- Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”; 1 Peter 1:23, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”; 2 Timothy 3:15, “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
- It is by the Word of GOD that we have a pure life- Psalm 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
- It is by the Word of GOD that we are convicted of our sin- Hebrew 4:12, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
- It is by the Word of GOD that we know the truth- John 17:17, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
- It is by the Word of GOD that we know doctrine– II Timothy 3:16
- It is by the Word of GOD that we know correction– II Timothy 3:16
- It is by the Word of GOD that we know instruction– II Timothy 3:16, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”
Pro 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Luk 24:32 And they said one to another, Did notour heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
1Th 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received itnot as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

2 Timothy 3:16, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”
The “All’s” of the Scripture:
- All Inspired- All the Word is inspired (GOD’S Breath)
- All Necessary- All the Word is needed
- All Sufficient – All of the Word is sufficient for our life
Three Works of GOD to know:
- Revelation- How we got GOD’S Word. How did we get it? The LORD revealed it to us. It came by supernatural revelation. No one knows the Mind of GOD except HIMSELF. (1 Corinthians 2:10-11)
- Inspiration- How was it revealed? By inspiration, which means HIS Breath. One cannot speak words without inhaling than they speak by exhaling. It is important to note that “Revelation” and “Inspiration” only happened one time. After it happened, the LORD preserved HIS Word. (1 Corinthians 2:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:16)
- Preservation- How do we have HIS Word today? This is done by the LORD preserving it. This preservation is a supernatural preservation. It was important enough to give it to us Divinely, and it is important enough to keep it for us Divinely. (1 Cor 2:12; Psalm 12:7-8; Matthew 4:4)
Another Word to know:
- Translation-today there are many translations out there. Does it matter which translation we take? Do they all say the same thing, but some are expressed in an easier way to understand? Unfortunately, most church goers do not understand this or have they have not been shown these things. This section is done in a way to make it simple to understand. Again, it is important to note that “Revelation” and “Inspiration” only happened one time. We do not believe that when any translation work was done, there was a new revelation or a double inspiration.
- The Translation issue is not a translation issue. It goes back to a preservation issue. Is the LORD able to preserve HIS Word? If so, is it preserved to where it is perfect or is it just preserved to where parts are right? It is important to point out that when CHRIST was on earth, HE quote a translation that had preserved the Word. HE was not speaking Hebrew to everyone but was speaking the language of the day where he was. When HE did quote a translation, HE always called it the Word of GOD. If CHRIST used a translation and said it was in fact GOD’S Words, then we should know that preservation is possible today as well. We do not have a book that contains the Words of GOD, but we have the very Word of GOD in its whole, from Genesis to Revelation.
- Are all the translations perfect? Do they all say the same thing in our English language? Unfortunately, they do not. They come from different manuscripts. It’s not that they just had some changes to sell it or in order to make it “easier.” They have changes due to the different manuscript they come from. The King James (Authorized Version) Bible comes from what is known as the “majority text” and other translations come from what is known as the “minority text.” Over 5,000 differences.

- Mark 7:16: "If any man have ears to hear, let him hear."
- Mark 9:44: "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."
- Mark 9:46: "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."
- Mark 11:26: "But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses."
- Mark 15:28: "And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.”
- Luke 17:36: "Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left."
- John 5:4: "For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had."
- Acts 8:37: "And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
- Acts 15:34: "Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still."
- Acts 24:7: "But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,"
- Acts 28:29: "And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves."
- Romans 16:24: "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen."
- I John 5:7: "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
The wicked one is still the father of lies and the king of deception as he tries to attack the authority of the Word. We must never doubt the Word. Have faith, GOD keeps HIS Word. HE is true! We have the powerful Word of GOD with us today.
